Jack Daniels meets a Vintage Affair

I have finally finished my first Vintage Affair Challenge, in which you were required to alter a wine bottle. Well, since I don't always follow the rules and have never been a fan of wine... I decided to alter an old friend JACK DANIELS(I didn't drink it by the way) I loved the shape of it and it looks beautiful!

I alcohol inked the top (which is plastic) and added a little 7 Gypsy's. The tassel was bought at Tuesday Morning. I added lace and beads to give it a feminine feel to it. The lace was Glimmer Misted since I only had white.

I covered the bottle with Cosmo Cricket paper (Ever after) and used the G45 Line Le Romantique Line, a little Tim Holtz, Paperdrama Flowers and Prima. I have been watching Youtube thanks to Joanne and I have just learned so many new techniques.

I really like how it came out, now Lady Dei will fill it with pennies to finish it off. Off to my next project ... G45 is calling again.

Gothic Arch Challenge... School

Here is my Gothic Arch Challenge ... this week's theme was school. I found this really cute picture of my brother and the rest is history! When I think of school, I think red and yellow... and my brother is the cutest school boy I know.

Tag Tuesday Weekly Challenge & Hard Earned Cash Spent...

I finally completed my first tag challenge... theme was crowns at Tag Tuesday Weekly Challenge all inspired by TH (Tim Holtz) and Joanne aka Paper Drama; who I think is the queen of all things TAGS! I have been wanting / needing this Prime Music note stamp since I saw Joanne use it... can I hear $6.00!!! I totally just went with the flow and new I wanted a Paris theme since my Roscoe is a French Poodle. I love the way it came out.

I used the tape transfer technique again for Roscoe's cute picture... so cute and sweet.

This is not all the damage I did this weekend; all I know is that I deserve it... I work really hard and long hours so every 1$ dolla spent was all for the goodness of me. I went out with some enablers, who didn't stop me from buyer... A&E should have a show called "ENABLERS"...

All work and some play!!!

I have been working a lot of hours lately, the stress at work has been high and I come home so tired. Yet, I really love to paper craft and create; it's so refreshing to my soul...along with prayer.

I completed my Gothic Arch Challenge... this weeks theme was crowns! My Dear Dad would always inspire them. This is a picture of him when he was young and I'm sure before I was even a thought. I used a packaging tape transfer technique and placed the photo in a slide mount. The crown is pink and blinged out, because my Dad loved his girls (Me and Lady Dei), the "D" is for Dad and Deidra. I glimmer misted a paper doily to make it look like paper lace. The arch is actually a Cheerios box... Lady Dei is a environmental major and I have to do my part in recycling and making the world a better place.

I joined my first ever ATC card swap at THE SCRAP BEACH, the theme for this swap is Birthday. When I think of Birthday, it's always pick with chocolate cupcakes. I bought my first Copic Markers today and I am hooked. I have no clue of what I am doing but practice makes perfect!!! Again my cards are made from a Cheerios box and I love how the image of the box peeks through the pink paint. My images were stamped with another new love Oxford Impressions, their stamps are beautiful... this set is from the Fairy Sweet Collection. They look so much better in person... well at least I think so.

As you can see I have a few down and more to go, I can't wait to see what I get back. I also plan on going to a ATC swap next Saturday at Stamp Your Heart Out from 2-3:30, I am going to make six new ones to see what I can trade them for; wish me luck!!

August - Gothic Arch Challenge

I completed my first challenge - Gothic Arches Challenge before midnight. Anyone who knows me; knows I am a slow creator. I just pulled all my stuff out, I have to say I was inspired by the "Super Sisters" (Toni and Shawn), "The Wind Beneath My Wings" (Paper Drama), and the wonderful Tim Holtz. I used my House of 3 Halloween printable because I didn't want to do anything cutesy. Those ladies on this challenge are a force to be reckoned with; not to toot my own horn, but I think I held my own. I love to watch Youtube when Mr. Bletzer is not sharing the TV; yesterday I met YouTube Celebrity - Yolanda and I used her technique in which she stamps an image and covers it with a paint wash, you can still see the image. I wanted to use grunge board, distress inks and of course UTEE, I made these really cute tiny rosette which were supposed to be for something else. I said I would incorporate something about my dad in all my challenges... his name was JESUS; yes like Jesus Christ... hence the "J" on a TH memo pin from Studio Garage Band esty store. I love it and I busted it out in an hour... thank you to those who inspire me... this is for you!!!

Happy August 1st!!!!

Well, today is bitter sweet, my father would have been 67 years old. I have never stopped missing him. This picture of my Dad and Lady Dei is my favorite; he was so proud of his granddaughter. I had Lady Dei when I was 19, unmarried and lost... my Dad supported me and encouraged me to get up and fight to give my little girl a good life (well that was after he started talking to me again). I know he is looking down and knows his "girls" did him proud. How I wish I could hear his voice one more time; have him smile at us one more time, just have him for one more minute. Yet, I know one more time or one more minute wouldn't be enough... Happy Birthday Dad.
In honor of my dad, I decided to do something I have been talking about but never find time for ... Challenges (Mix Media); there are these two ladies I call the "Super Sisters", Toni and Shawn...how I love to be inspired by them and the creativity that just flows from them so freely. I spent time with them yesterday and was in awe of their work and the joy I see in their faces as they "freely" created. They have encouraged me to join challenges and create out of the box using whatever I can find... FLAT BLACK maybe!!! These are the two challenges I have have decided to participate in Our Vintage Affair and Gothic Arches Challenge, I decided each one would have something in it to remind me of my Dad. Thank you "Super Sisters" for being so inspiring...
